Hip osteoarthritis
hip osteoarthritis, hip necrosis, hip prosthesis, hip dysplasia, cartilage wear

Hip osteoarthritis, also known as coxarthrosis, is a degenerative condition characterized by the progressive wear of the cartilage in the joint connecting the femur to the pelvis. Normally, this cartilage acts as a "cushion" allowing for smooth bone movement; when it thins and weakens, the bone surfaces come into direct contact, causing pain (often located in the groin crease), morning stiffness, and limited mobility.
Although linked to aging, it can also be promoted by old injuries, anatomical abnormalities, femoral osteonecrosis, or being overweight, requiring management ranging from rehabilitation to the implantation of a total hip replacement in advanced stages.
